Holland

What a difference a year make. Last year when Greg Holland was called up to pitch for the Royals, up came a guy  who struggled to get guys out consistently. In 18.2 innings of work last year he gave up 23 hits and 15 runs. He had a solid strikeout numbers and didn't struggle with walking people, but it seemed he struggled with confidence. Well so far this year he looks completely different he made slight tweaks to his game and above all seemed to gain confidence more and more with each scoreless inning he threw. Recently that confidence has led him into becoming more and more of a strikeout pitcher. In his last four appearances he has recorded 10 strikeouts in 6.0 innings compared to 6 strikeouts in his previous 6.2 innings. Now eventually he will have a bad outing and his ERA will not remain at 0.00, but if he continues to look the way he does it only strengthens our bullpen and adds flexibility to a pitching staff that needs as much help as it can get at times.

The Bottom Line:
Greg Holland gives the Royals not only flexibility in their bullpen, but also in experimenting with the idea of Aaron Crow as a starter or the potential trading of Joakim Soria.
