On most days a Royals win and more importantly a win with solid pitching would be a easy thing to talk about, and probably that’s what would have been written here today. That all changed when I flipped open my phone and saw a text message saying “Moustakas called up”. That got me thinking and to a full realization that the long awaited “process” is now here. Obviously guys like Eric Hosmer, Danny Duffy, Aaron Crow, and others have already graced the field with their presence, and there are others still to come. Still now that Moustakas is here the future is now, and that means that an improving team better start being seen on the field.
It may be a little shortsighted of me to say its time to win, but in many ways it is time to win. Other than Mike Montgomery are top of the line prospects in AAA have all been called up. These are the guys that Dayton Moore, Ned Yost, and the Royals faithful are all counting on to lead us to prosperity like the Rays have done recently. I don’t expect this team to go from cellar dweller to champion over night, especially with the distinct lack of starting pitching at the moment, but they should be more competitive in the near future.
Bottom Line:
This is not the final piece but this is the time that makes or breaks Dayton Moore’s career as the GM of the Kansas City Royals.
